New tax laws in 2015 - because of which a sale of this year is still worthwhile
Dear Mallorca friends,
in January the Spanish tax reform comes into force. At first glance, a tax cut, but especially for owners of older properties the reform may be particularly expensive. Previously, a tax revenue-reducing reduction coefficient could be applied, which is to be abolished retroactively from 2015.
In practice, this can mean a difference in the tax burden of tens of thousands of euros - even for non-residents, as sales proceeds from Spanish real estate are taxable in Spain. Attorney Gabriel Buades of Bufete Buades in Palma de Mallorca, analyses the new Spanish Tax Act for you and shows that based on calculation examples, a quick sale is certainly worthwhile.
For buyers making a sale could be interesting this year. In all respects 2014 was a record year for Mallorca. Never before have so many tourists come to the island as during this year and the sales of real estate have made a double-digit growth. With this strong demand, it is a question of time before prices rise again.
